Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"Sunday morning we began with a multiple choice review on cell division, mitosis/meiosis, and cell structures. We then talked about some helpful tips for taking the AP exam, and ended the session reviewing again cell communication/signaling. Overall great session, and the student is remaining positive and studying hard."
"The student's already finished his AP exam for physics, so we're focusing on the last units in his class on simple harmonic motion, waves, and electricity. We reviewed his teacher's slides on the concepts and went over the practice question packet his teacher gave him. We'll be devoting a separate session to each topic next week in preparation for his upcoming tests."
"We covered refraction questions on ray tracing to support the lens equation, properties of converging and diverging lenses, human vision, dispersion in prisms, Snell's law, total internal dispersion and applications, and chromatic aberrations. We then began preparation for the cumulative final."
"The student and I went over Newton's Laws and free-body diagrams. She had some trouble understanding the concept of force, but I gave her a thorough explanation. She is now understanding the material well; I have high expectations of her performance!"
"Today we met for the last time this semester and did some review for mechanics of materials (MoMs). I think he's got a good grasp on his FBDs and some of the other basics, though some of the problems that are either statically indeterminate or have degrees of freedom give him issues. We talked about how to handle some common cases for the final."
"We went over Mechanics and Electricity and Magnetism practice questions, in preparation for the student's AP tests on the subjects. The student indicated there was improvement, but he still has trouble identifying the right equations needed to solve problems. We will continue to work on this next session."
