Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"We reviewed for his Chapter 6 test which the student was going to make up the next day. The material contained FOIL, factoring, and graphing of polynomials."
"Today, we graphed parabolas based on their properties, solved various word problems, and dealt with problems that had square root -1/i."
"I created a self-made review sheet for the student in preparation for his test on Friday. His teacher told him that the test would assess all concepts learned in the first semester. My review included work on fractions, percents, multiplication of decimals, perimeter, area, integers, etc. I had him talk through each problem and also do each step of the written calculation on paper. He did very well on the review and only missed one problem. We also reviewed his homework for the day which was on graphing X/Y coordinates. He felt very comfortable with this concept."
"The student and I worked on the law of sine and the law of cosine. She initially struggled with setting up the problem but we went over the homework problems and some extra practice problems. She felt confident after the tutoring session."
"We went over the problems on the student's exam and I gave her some advice about how to take notes and do problems while reading the textbook. In the chapter about limits, we took notes on equations and properties while doing textbook problems side by side. I instructed her to do the same for the other chapters she missed and try the homework problems."
"Tonight we covered exponential and logarithmic differentiation, finding critical points, and finding points of inflection. The student was initially shaky on these topics, but she was understanding me as I was helping her with these problems. She has a better understanding now than she did before."
