Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"The student and I first went over a review worksheet for his US history class. He had his notes well organized, but we were unable to find answers to a few questions. I suggested he look those up on the internet later. I also assisted him with an algebra review from his geometry class."
"Today the student and I reviewed some of the past material we have worked on including the verb gustar and preterit verb conjugations. I quizzed her on her new vocabulary words. We then talked about irregular preterit verbs. I had her practice in multiple ways: conjugation charts, paragraph writing, book activity completion, and oral descriptions of pictures. When we finished with this practice we practiced pronunciation of the new vocabulary words for next week."
"The student and I met to review for his exam. We went over the first derivative, second derivative, and their applications including the critical values, relative extrema, inflections points, and concavity changes."
"Today, the student and I went over all the different strategies he can use if he feels they will help him. We then used some of the strategies in the writing and reading sections of the 2nd practice test. His reading score increased by 110 points overall and his writing scored increase 20 points overall."
"The student and I continued to work though science and math passages. I am starting to see some of the points/tips I have taught her being used in her problem solving. I think she feels more comfortable starting problems. When I ask her to focus on a problem, she does very well. "
"The student did superbly today. He jumped right into today's lesson and worked hard and well the entire session, even when it went on for an extra half an hour (which was at his insistence, because he wanted to get in coverage of the grammar point, the intensive pronoun ipse, ipsa, ipsum). I am very proud of him and the work and drive he brought to tutoring today."
