Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"Today we went over a homework assignment. The material we covered was over finding the arc length and area of a sector. I gave her a few extra formulas to help, and we worked through several example problems. I think she understands the material pretty good now."
"The student and I discussed how to schedule her writing to make it more manageable. In addition, we worked on making sure her ideas are expressed clearly throughout her papers, concentrating on thesis sentences and transition statements."
"The student and I worked today on techniques for speed on the charts/graphs section of the science test, and covered some topics briefly in math review. I suggested looking at the questions to identify big topics before reading the instructions and graphs, but this seems to take the student a little more time than going in order, so we dropped that and switched to focusing on identifying variables, units, and trends. After several drills we did most of a practice test (skipping the contenting perspectives section because we've already done that) and the student got 100% on the charts and experiment sections. We also discussed having the student do another practice test for assessment now that we're 2 weeks from her exam. She will do the writing and essay writing sections at home over the weekend, and the English, science, and reading comprehension sections at our next meeting."
"The student did well on her last test and quiz. She has her last test, before the AP test, tomorrow on differential equations. We did every worksheet she was assigned (some of them a second time), and I wrote a few more difficult problems so that she would not be surprised by the test."
"We reviewed the same material as we had for two weeks previously (slope and intercept). We focused on different ways of determining the linear equation from specific information. I told him to practice problems from the book."
"Tonight, the student and I worked on Logic Games, using a section he'd recently completed. This allowed us to review the fundamentals of sketch creation and navigating the game once the sketch is completed. We also worked on Formal Logic, the rules of conditional statements, and their application in games."
