Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"Today was our first session, and we reviewed the student's study guide for her upcoming biology test. We covered several topics including mitosis, meiosis, plant reproduction, viruses, and bacteria. She was attentive and interactive throughout the session and knew most of the material. We will work more on the genetics review section, particularly with Punnett squares/crosses. I suggested she continue to practice those."
"We talked about the renal system and the respiratory system. In each system we discussed and contrasted the function of each organ and part."
"The student and I began studying for his biology and history finals. I made up several questions that were covered on the first two, out of the four, biology study guides he received and proceeded to ask him these questions."
"Today, we covered names and formulas for ionic compounds and covalent compounds. We also reviewed how the periodic table represents trends in chemical properties in preparation for his cumulative exam tomorrow. His attitude about his upcoming exam was more optimistic than before. I left him to continue the list of suggested problems."
"The student and I wrapped up our tutoring sessions for now as his AP exam is tomorrow. We worked on free response questions and strategies associate with the test in general. We also discussed some statistical analysis concepts. I feel that the student should do very well on this exam."
"We began going over aromatic chemistry and went over all of the reagents and mechanisms that are used. We went over acylation, alkylation, Birch reduction, halogenation and the mechanisms and different unique aspects of each reaction. I suggested she drill her flash cards over Christmas and we decided on dates to meet next week."
