Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"Session Fifteen Tutoring Review During the student's fifteenth session we focused on Tutoring Goal(s) 1, 3, and 6, which involved developing problem solving skills, reviewing and completing her assigned homework, and problem recognition. Below is a synopsis of the topics we covered today: She worked very hard at practicing factoring and FOILing quadratic equations, solving for their zeros, finding the greatest common factor (GCF), and performing long division involving algebraic expressions. We discussed and practiced proper problem set-up and introduced mathematical symbols and conclusions to our problem solving skills. Homework and our Plan for Session XVII: Our next session is scheduled for Wednesday at 7:30pm. I asked her to practice her homework problem set up and conclusions the way we solved our equations today. I asked her to make a note of any subject areas that she may not feel confident performing so that we can be sure to cover them in our next session. Wednesday we will have a brief overview of any concepts that she may not understand from her homework, and then our focus will turn to her new assignments and lectures. Notes: As always, she was a fantastic student, and today she worked even harder than her normal determination! She completed a very large number of problems accurately demonstrating her wonderful ability to quickly master most concepts. I'm grateful to have such a wonderful and talented student in her, and it is a pleasure to see her continuously do so well!"
"We started covering material such as basic differentiation, including derivatives of trig functions and graphing derivatives."
"The student has a test on Friday, so we reviewed some difficult derivatives, related-rates problems, and the mean value theorem. He seems well prepared for the exam."
"We had a discussion about it being alright to be wrong as long as she tried. She is still struggling with basic addition/subtraction, but we are working on it."
"We solved math problems covering addition, telling time, and logic and reasoning to solve a math mystery. Both of the girls stayed focused and did a good job."
"The student got moved up to honors algebra 2. We spent most of the time catching up. They are presently doing trigonometry."
