Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"Today we went over complete basic algebra and solving inequalities. We then covered exponents and radicals. The student has two pages for homework to bring in next time."
"Today we covered some more vocabulary words and talked about word stems. We also did some practice analogy questions and some arithmetic flashcard questions."
"The student and I began this session by reviewing and discussing his diagnostic test. Next, we went over the timed essay he wrote for homework and talked about what he did well and what he can improve upon in his next essay. After that, we began working on the verbal section. The student learned strategies for solving synonym problems, and we answered a number of practice problems together. He became much more confident with synonym problems as we completed the problems together. After that, he began learning strategies and tips for analogy problems, and he seems to be picking these up very quickly. For homework, he will write a timed essay using the prompt at the top of pg. 453 of his practice book and email it to me at least a day before our next session; complete and score the problems on pgs. 96-100; read pgs. 126-130 and solve all sample problems; and complete and score the problems on pgs. 131-133. In our next session we will review this homework, continue working on analogy problems, and, if time allows, begin working on the math or reading comprehension section."
