Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"We worked on preparing for the student's exam in history. We discussed Communist Russia, Perestroika, the economic implications of communism, the players involved, etc. She was clearer on these issues by the end of the session."
"The student had a somewhat challenging homework assignment in which he had to analyze Vietnamese immigrants' statements about American life. We started by listing the elements of each statement that were important, then built outlines to put them in an order that made sense in the context of a paragraph response."
"The student and I reviewed a selection of eight essay questions for her ancient history exam and picked three that seemed the most straightforward. We then discussed which texts assigned in her course-pack would help best support her arguments on the final exam. Together we identified content from the course, the texts, and online resources that she might include in her responses. These included the difference between Mahayana and Theravada Buddhism, the significance of the system of covenants in the Hebrew Bible, and the role that religion played in justifying the caste system in ancient India. She has a good grasp on the material and texts and should do very well on the exam."
