Roozbeh ...easily my favorite. I love basic math, algebra, calculus and everything in between, and it shows in my work. My mom was a teacher, and she helped me to pick up my first problem solving position in high school. Since then, I've worked with students from ninth grade to adults returning to the classroom, students struggling to pass to students wanting to attend (or get into!) a special high school or college. Amir ...during the Fall 2010 and Spring 2011 academic semesters. The subjects I tutored ranged from college level science courses to advanced mathematics. In my opinion, the most rewarding aspect of tutoring is when I am able to convey a particularly challenging question to a student. I do this by approaching concepts from multiple perspectives and breaking things down into layman’s terms. In my free time, I enjoy traveling, weight lifting, and spending time with my...
Danyal ...Texas A&M University and now am a medical student at Texas A&M College of Medicine. I have knowledge in a broad field of areas and subjects and I am always excited to teach willing students. My philosophy is that there are no hard subjects. Any difficult concept can be broken down into easier, more digestible content, based on how well a tutor can understand their students. And that is what I believe I can help...

Pooja ...also available to tutor Spanish I, Spanish II, Biology, and SAT/ACT prep! I really enjoy tutoring in history and math because many students find these subjects to be difficult. The feeling when a student finally understands a concept that they were previously having difficulty with is amazing, and I love seeing a student's face brighten up when they achieve this new understanding. As many students have different learning styles, I believe that it is important...

Karina ...Chemical Engineering and just graduated with a Master's in Environmental Analysis and Decision Making from Rice University. I would like to help anyone find that love of learning and confidence that comes from understanding your studies. I have an excellent background in math, chemistry, and Chemical Engineering classes, having earned all A's and B's in these subjects. I also have a working fluency in Spanish and took Spanish 1-4 in high school.... First, ask the student what they are having trouble with. If they provide a general answer, I may ask to see one of their past homework assignments or tests to gain an idea of what the student might need help with. Then, we can start going through sample problems together, step-by-step. All along the way, I will ask the student what their train of thought is to answer the problem. This will help them understand how to break a problem down into manageable chunks that are easier to tackle. And it also boosts practice with critical thinking.
