Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"Today we covered solving equations/ inequalities, quadratic and exponential functions, and worked on study and test skills for the student's midterm this week. He is feeling much better about tackling the study sessions in the next few days after we categorized the topics in terms of difficulty. He is doing very well during our sessions together."
"The student has a test on Thursday, so we went over sections of the chapter that she had a difficult time understanding. We also went over the section that she is learning this week in class. We also went over some math problems for the ACT that she had questions on. She was a lot more focused this week."
"Today's session focused on the student's upcoming test tomorrow. Her teacher gave her a review that she had completed in the week, and we went over this in detail. She has progressed just in the week I've seen her, and I can see not only a stronger understanding in the material but a higher confidence level. The test tomorrow should prove no major problems for her, as we have spent the majority of our three sessions thus far covering the material that will be on the exam. I am eager to see what she scores so we can move forward. Our goal is for her to score at the minimum a solid B on this exam and to finish the semester with an A or B. This is a completely achievable goal. I am glad to see that she is grasping the concepts that can be rather difficult at first."
"The student's class is beginning to work with quadratic equations. She has started with the difference of two perfect squares. We worked on several examples and then I began to teach her how to factor a quadratic equation."
"We looked at finding equations of a line given combinations of a slope, point or y-intercept. The student did well carrying over terms during his arithmetic and maintaining signs of terms while solving an equation."
"We primarily went over word problems during this session. The student's able to transcribe most basic expressions from words into numbers, but still struggles when using variables. He was getting better after being shown a couple of examples and he was able to follow the logic through. For the next session, I hope to help him progress further with that skill."
