"The student scored a 33.5 on practice test #1 from the prep book. That is a staggering 11 point increase from her diagnostic; however, I believe the practice test from the prep book was slightly easier than the real thing. So, we should still be looking for her to score in the 30's."
"The student and I worked on his homework. He had to conjugate verbs correctly for a sentence. Then we edited a paragraph he has written as homework. Then I asked him questions in German about a packet he had from class and asked him to answer in German."
"A positive, low-pressure get-to-know-you-session with the student today. She will be taking a practice test this weekend, after which we can establish some score goals and find out how best to allocate our energy across the various topics. Our initial plan is to use our sessions to talk through most of the material, focusing on the trickier topics. Every week, she can review material that we've talked over, look forward into the text at new material, and do some practice work. During the following session, we'll review any troubling questions or topics, and dive into the next item on the agenda. "
"The student and I reviewed her social studies homework and spelling. For social studies, we completed the questions about the Magna Carta, the English Bill of Rights, and John Locke. Her spelling is excellent."
"Reviewed homework then went back over and talked about material he would need to study for his upcoming test. Will cement this and hit anything he feels weak on or that I see he's making mistakes on during the next session."
"We went over another passage from Caesar's commentaries. This passage was a little different from other ones we have done in the past, but the student was able to figure out the grammar, although the narrative itself was confusing. We were able to get through the majority of the passage in the session; we took our time going over it so I could make sure that the student had a firm understanding of the grammatical structures."
