Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"Met with the student from 4:30 to 6:30. In our initial meeting we discussed her current status in her geometry class. She mentioned that she is currently working with her third teacher this semester which has created some problems in understanding some of the material since each teacher taught differently. I asked her about how her current teacher presents the information and if she understands what is presented. She replied that she likes her current teacher, but that one of her main issues is going too fast when she works out problems on her exams. She mentioned that her teacher said to her that she basically understands the material but she makes mental errors on her quizzes and tests, which accounts for some of her low grades. For our initial meeting we looked at her previous test on right triangles, congruency, interior angles, and also looked at similar polygons. Her mother provided a review worksheet with all of the information that she worked on. At the end of the session she mentioned that her mid term will be on the 15th of January and that she would be getting her review sheet on Monday. Her mother also printed out a practice mid term review for her to work on for the next tutoring session."
"We worked on homework for a new topic: contrapositive proofs. Then I started at the beginning of the textbook to begin reviewing for the midterm coming up in two weeks. By next session, the student should have some review materials from her teacher for this midterm, so we'll continue reviewing."
"Went through and reviewed SOL practice exams. Went through previous tests and reviewed wrong answers. Reviewed topics covered in the first part of the year."
"The student and I prepared for his Geometry final, and I left the session feeling confident in his preparation. He later told me that his final grade for the semester improved to an 85."
"The student and I met from 3:15 to 4:15 to work on the review for his final. He has a good handle on the material, and we were able to cover everything."
"We went over his exam review packet. We reviewed rules of congruency in lines, triangles, and quadrilaterals. He struggled the most with dilation, but not very much."
