Oologah Tutoring FAQ

The town of Oologah, Oklahoma, is a part of Rogers County, and is home to around 1,000 people. There is some argument over the pronunciation and meaning of "Oologah," with some historians believing it translates to "red horse fish," while others cite that it means either "butty weather" or "butts." At the beginning of the 20th century, the community was an agriculture, oil production, and coal mining hub, and the construction of the Oologah dam and lake caused the town's population to surge in the 1960s.

Oologah-Talala High School is the only secondary institution in the city, and the Oologah-Talala Public Schools District runs it. The larger city of Tulsa is about a 35-minute drive southwest of Oologah, and many prominent universities and colleges can be found in this city. Some of these institutions include the University of Tulsa, Oral Roberts University, the Oklahoma State University-Tulsa, and Brown Mackie College. If you're looking to pursue admission to your school of choice, take advantage of an Oologah, OK, tutor, who can offer you online or in-home private tutoring and personal instruction to help with your test prep. Online and in-person Oologah tutoring might help you stay on top of your test prep.

Oologah has a number of interesting locations to explore, and the small-town atmosphere encompassing the community is homey. The Will Rogers Dog Iron Ranch and Birthplace Home is a must-stop, which has turned the famous humorist's birthplace into a nature reserve. Here, you'll be able to tour the old stomping grounds of one of America's finest wits, and you can take a stroll around his house, barns, and yard. The Oologah Lake is also worth visiting, and this beautiful area is truly a gem of the town. You can enjoy camping, hiking, and fishing here, or you can just relax and gaze upon the lake's calming waves and sunsets.

Tulsa is also worth visiting if you're looking for something new to do, and one great spot to look into is the Gilcrease Museum. This museum houses the world's largest collection of American West art, and it also contains many wonderful pieces of Native American artwork and artifacts.

Tutoring review by Aaron in Oologah, OK
Student A and I worked on probabilities. This was probably the most difficult work the student has had so far since I started tutoring. He did a great job and was patient understanding the new concepts. It is exponent time for Student B. We went over his homework, concentrating on some of the key concepts to make sure he has a good understanding of what is happening. I suggest he reviews these concepts to keep them fresh in his mind.

We talked about different concepts in algebra and geometry. We talked about how to graph functions with absolute value. We worked on parabolas, putting them in graphing form, finding the vertex and x and y intercepts and talking about domain and range. We also worked on finding areas of hexagons and trapezoids.

The student did well today and showed that she has implemented the study skills I have taught her for learning her spelling words. She also has done a good job of implementing the study skill for using her vocabulary words in a sentence which explains the meaning of the word itself. Overall, today went well and she showed improvement in some areas. She was able to complete her science homework and half of her math homework, both while using some good study skills and showing some improvement on her ability to focus.

Tutoring review by Matthew in Oologah, OK
Today's session involved concepts in electricity and magnetism. The student had trouble with the right hand rule so we went over how and when to use it. We then applied this concept to various scenarios such as finding the direction of current through a loop, finding the direction of a magnetic field through a wire and much more. We also discussed Lenz's law, the Biot-Savart law and applied them to concept questions that he had struggled with previously. He was very surprised with himself and all that he was able to understand by the end of the lesson. I think it went very well.

On Saturday, I helped my client complete her research paper. Together, we went over grammar and content in the paper. She seemed pretty happy with the results! I didn't use any particular strategies but helped her find some other sources to use and did one final proofreading of her paper. I even showed her where to find APA citation help. Good session!

We continued working on revisions to the student's law school admissions essay. I reviewed her revisions to her first "story" and made comments on her revisions. Then, she and I discussed the relevant paragraphs line by line. She has a great attitude and welcomes suggestions. Her revisions were good, and she is making substantial progress with her essay. We will continue meeting until the essay is done.
