Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"We began the session by reviewing the conjugations of ser, ir, and querer. We then reviewed some of the exercises that the student had completed in preparation for the session. He demonstrated a good grasp of the usage of 'ir' and 'tener'. We then practiced conversation and listening comprehension; I explained to him the significance of Cinco de Mayo in Mexico. The student demonstrated excellent progress in understanding spoken Spanish. We finished the session by looking at several common idioms and verbal phrases, including 'acabar de', 'tener que', 'volver a', 'dejar de', and 'tratar de'. I asked the student to complete the rest of exercise 7.4 as well as 7.5 and 7.6."
"We did a lot of talking today. We wrote down some new vocab. We had a "debate" to expand vocabulary. I then gave the student a series of prompts focusing on certain tenses. The student did really well and there were really only a couple of minor corrections along the way. Next week we are going to have a "vocab" quiz based on the grammar we have covered today and in the past."
"The group became familiar with indirect object pronouns and we finally began reading Pobre Ana together! They are reading a book in Spanish for the first time and it's going very well."
