Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"The student and I continued working on the practice test we began yesterday. I had left half of each section untouched yesterday so we could do a lot of the same practice today. We worked a little bit on the essay portion today, and it is clear that he is a good writer, but needs to work on including more detail. This is something we can continue to work on over the next few weeks. So far, he is doing really well and is really receptive to the suggestions I have given him."
"This session focused on essay writing. We talked about the structure of the essay and what the readers are looking for. We practiced outlining several prompts, writing introductions and writing a whole essay. The student has very good spelling and grammar, so we looked at adding transitions and other structural elements of the essay. We also did some sentence completion, which went very well, and continued to review math."
"This was one of the final sessions before the student takes the ISEE. Therefore, we went back to the original practice test she took to review the entire vocabulary section and the math questions she got wrong. This was a great review for her and gave her confidence. She knew many more answers than she did when we first started preparing for the ISEE. Because reading comprehension is the most challenging section for her, we did a few more reading passages. These passages were both middle and upper level. She has the proper technique for evaluating these questions."
