Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"The student and I worked on algebra and chemistry today. Some key points to keep in mind include: the definition of standard deviation, making sure to look at the broad definition as well as the exact; molecular trends; as well as the definition of mixtures (heterogeneous and homogeneous, etc.)"
"The student and I studied more math today. We reviewed combinations, factoring, and imaginary numbers. The student is going to take a practice test this week to see what progress she's made and where else we should focus our efforts."
"We began the session by reviewing his writing piece. We then discussed how to add vibrant color words to make his writing come alive. He began to create a color dictionary to use as a resource in enhancing his writing. Our session concluded with discussion of his next writing assignment. Excellent effort!"
"This was our final meeting before the student's SAT. We mostly reviewed rules for doing better - break questions in to pieces, leave impossible questions unanswered, use specific examples in writing the essay, etc."
"We went over a geometry quiz and corrected several of the problems. We also worked through the first 10 problems on a practice test. The student's binder was disorganized, so I gave him an outline of how to sort his papers into dividers."
"I suggested we start by learning the Spanish alphabet, as well as numbers 1 - 100. I taught them a song to help them learn the alphabet and will be emailing them various Spanish online resources. Next, I spelled words in Spanish and had them write them down and then translate. Everyone did a bit of this. Then, we talked about greetings, basic questions, and answers in infinitive verb form (jugar, nadar, bailar). Lastly, we went over -AR, -ER, and -IR verb conjugations."
