"Student 1 and I finished his review packet and worked on some more ACT English passages, striving for accuracy. Student 2 attempted some reading passages on his own, and we checked and discussed his answers afterwards."
"The student and I worked through his first math chapter and some additional math practice questions. This was our first meeting. He feels his focus should be on essay writing, and that his greatest strength is math. For homework, I gave him the option of taking a full-length practice test or doing two sections of an exam. We will meet again in a week, and then will meet regularly until March 27th."
"The student has a midterm at the end of this coming week. His teacher gave him a review packet that we started going through. The student understands most of the material, but hasn't seen some of it in a while. Once he sees it again it is clear. It's all solving triangles, thinking in radians, graphing trig functions and applications."
"We reviewed the ACT grammar section, which the student said she found difficult. I gave her a list of the most common grammatical errors tested on the ACT so she can practice identifying them, and she did a good job of spotting them in the practice sections. We also talked about time management, staying focused and how to handle distractions during the test."
"Today, I helped the student study for his second to last chapter test. We went over old and new vocab as well as stem changing verbs. I tried a new fill-in-the-blank study method that will help him remember verb endings as well as the areas of verbs where the spelling changes because of stem changes."
"The student and I started our session this evening with some practice with the 3rd and 5th declensions and noun-adjective agreement. I gave her two noun-adjective pairs and had her fill out a full synopsis for each. She did very well. We spent some additional time looking over the forms for the 3rd declension, and I plan to do this type of review more in our upcoming sessions. Next, we did some vocabulary review then moved on to working on some translation. She did really well on translation this evening--she identified verb forms easily, and she was accurate and confident in her translations. We finished up our session by starting to talk about the next big grammar topic her class will cover: the uses of the ablative."
