Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"Balanced chemical equations and then deduced overall chemical reaction equation. Solved efficiency problems. Went over solubility of solutes and solvents in the organic lab course. Cyclohexane nomenclature and chair conformation."
"We started off the session discussing how the student's practice test went last week. We decided to set a goal for a score on the real test and to create steps that will help us get there. After that, we played name that number. I had created a practice quiz for the student based on the info his teacher gave listing the areas he needed improvement in, which are the topics we have been working on. We worked on this quiz together. All in all, he did great. His most difficult area was working through word problems. We will continue to address this and I believe his teacher will have a new list of skills for us to work on based on the practice test, and we'll go from there."
"The student has a test with higher degree polynomials today, so we spent time working on those. The problems involve knowing the roots, multiplicity, and one point, and then coming up with a formula or doing the reverse."
"We covered a variety of topics, focusing on areas the student had questions on. We started on questions he had in the verbal section, then a bio passage, and finished with several discrete physics questions."
"The student and I began by reviewing a list of new vocabulary provided by his teacher. Then, we began work on conjugating the imperfect tense. Finally, we worked on the script for his presentation on Chapter 6. He says his grade has come up a bit, and he feels better about his passing the class. I suggested he begin getting the photographic material ready which will be included in his PowerPoint on Chapter 6."
"We spent most of the time checking out the odd variety of IR problems. I'll send more of these your way for this week. Sentence correction is going reasonably well, but there is room for improvement (perhaps in Verb Tense, which we haven't yet covered). Lastly, we'll spend more minutes on Critical Reasoning, since this section is perhaps the easiest to master."
