Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"Today we worked on mathematical induction. It was a little bit harder for the student than much of the other material we've covered. Induction is much more abstract than most topics in precalc. She is getting a pretty good grasp on it, though."
"Precalculus: Worked on homework: graphing all the trig functions, phase changes/transformations, solving inverse trig equations without a calculator. Started a review sheet for the final: the unit circle, terminal points, reference numbers, trig definitions."
"We had a great session today. We went over the different types and generations of antibiotics as well as anti-fungals. In addition we went over aerobic and anaerobic bacteria, and we ended by going over some medical terms."
"The student had a test on Friday so we went over some problems in her book that she had questions on, and then went over the study guide. She showed progress from the last time we met."
"We reviewed topics for his upcoming final on Wednesday, May 28th. We also created a study strategy to help prepare for the test. I didn't see any scores. We went through his syllabus and marked different sections of it with a 1, 2, 3, 4 or 5. A 1 meant he didn't know a part of the syllabus. A 5 meant he knew the section very well. I told him he probably needed four days of one-hour study in order to properly prepare for the final. I'll come back at least two more times to assist him. I have no concerns at all."
"We first warmed up with "five chess" then I introduced the new "jumping game" to her. During the entire process we mostly spoke Chinese, so she gets used to hearing the instructions in Chinese and is able to answer questions. We then reviewed the writing of dates and other characters we've learned. She's getting better at it. At the end I gave her a little quiz, and she did pretty well. The homework is to re-write each of the mistakes she made 10 times."
