Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"This session we reviewed both the mechanism of gene expression and its regulation by cells in preparation for the student's upcoming quiz."
"We reviewed Mendelian genetics for the student's exam. We went over review questions, and he completed his homework. Also, he did practice problems regarding chi squared and probability."
"I met with the student today. Status: The student wanted to go over rotational mechanics, namely torques and moments, etc. What we covered today: 1. We went over side by side comparison of linear and rotational motion kinematic equations, replacing linear displacement (x) with angular displacement (theta), linear velocity (v) with angular velocity (omega), and linear acceleration (a) with angular acceleration (alpha). 2. We derived the centripetal acceleration (ac = v2/r) formula and showed the student its meaning, where it comes from, how it is derived from tangential speed just changing direction, and why it points towards the center of rotation. 3. We went over the application of the 2nd law of Newton for the rotation as the sum of force moments equal to (I) times angular acceleration. We solved various problems. I was pleased to see the student again and learned that her grades are close to the 90's. I can't wait to hear about more progress from her. I encouraged her to text, call or email me with any questions she may have. Kudos. Keep up the good work. Proud of you."
