Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"The student and I worked again on more advanced equations where there are more variables. We are building our way up to a solid algebraic skill set that is at the core of pre-algebra and also algebra."
"Covered absolute value functions and their transformations. Also worked on some pre-lab activities for chemistry, covering flame tests."
"We worked on her project and completed most of that and made corrections to that. Then, we went through the quadratic equations, and I explained some properties of them to her. She is doing great."
"We continued working on the student oral project for his statistics class. He had done a substantial amount of work since we last met. We went over what he has and discussed what he might do to expand upon it. He really had a good idea of what he wanted to get across with the project, and together, we focused his ideas to fit the presentation format. He needed to flesh out the results section and the conclusion. By the time we finished, he seemed to feel comfortable with his plan for the presentation. We then spent some time going over his recent exam results."
"Reviewed homework set. Found pairwise correlations among variables, with associated probabilities. Computed confidence intervals for correlations. Tested simple hypothesis using linear regression. Discussed regression outputs: model F-statistic, R-squared, total sum of squares, model sum of squares, residual sum of squares, and variable t-score. Performed analysis of variation using ROBVAR command."
"It was great to meet you today! I'm excited that I now know someone all the way across the country. It seems that you have a good grasp on everything we covered today. You seem like someone who stays on top of things so I have no doubt that you will succeed in this class. I'm glad we got to go over how to translate the hypothesis conclusions a little toward the end of our session; you caught on to that really quickly considering it can be pretty confusing to make sense of an ANOVA table in terms of a real-world problem. I'll see you next week, and I hope you're having a good weekend!"
