Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"During this session, total mechanical energy, kinetic energy, and potential energy, were reviewed using a review sheet that was completed in its entirety."
"During this session, we began talking about forces, inertia, fnet=ma. We looked over the student's notes and did several questions in his workbook. Overall, this session went well."
"We worked on vector addition, relative velocity, Atwood machine problems, and horizontal projectile motion problems. Problems on horizontal projectile motion were assigned for homework."
"Today the student and I continued covering conservation of momentum and I introduced impulse into the problems. He continues to struggle most with word problems and efficiently picking out relevant information from them. This is something we will continue to work on. He seemed to get the hang of the new math I introduced fairly quickly. I continue to tell him to carefully read through word problems and use the way questions are worded to make assumptions about various quantities in the problem."
"We started doing the unit review for geometry. The student is doing incredibly well with them. We only finished half of the review together, but he did very well on it. We reviewed chapters 1-3 in biology. As we were talking about the sections, he retained a lot more information than he typically does. He definitely needs to study the characteristics of life, as well as the nutrient cycles for his test."
"We went over Coulomb's Law and Gauss' Law for electric fields. We laid down some of the fundamentals, starting from observed forces, to the concept of a field, to the concept of charges being the source of electric fields. Electric fields are more abstract of a concept and require some more clarification. We will spend some more time on strengthening these concepts next session."
