Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"We covered systems with 3 variable and solved several questions on that with both elimination and substitution method. Then we reviewed concepts for his exam and I told him how to check his work on those concepts. He is doing great and I like that he is trying to solve the questions without help. He is smart."
"In this session, we covered solving systems of equations using substitution, elimination, and graphing in order to prepare the student for an upcoming test. She had several misconceptions on how to solve a system with 3 equations and 3 variables. We worked on some problems in order to help correct those misconceptions. We then reviewed how to build an equation given 2 points on a coordinate plane. She did well with this. We then proceeded to go over how to use linear regression techniques to set up a system of equations to analyze a data set. She was very comfortable with this as well, including how to do it in her calculator. We finished the session by reviewing several problems covering the different methods of solving a system of equations. She had an excellent grasp on all methods. She should be well prepared to take her test."
"We went over matrix multiplication, inverse of a matrix, and how to find variable using matrix. It was a good session. The student was understanding and trying to solve problem. I do think I need to work with him so he is more confident and comfortable with his math work."
"This was the second session with the student. We covered mainly trigonometric equations and solution sets - both infinite solution sets, and solution sets constricted to a interval. Some important concepts included recognizing some trigonometric equations can be written in quadratic form and solved using quadratic formula or by factoring and computing the roots, then using thee roots to determine the corresponding solutions on the specified interval."
"Today, the student and I worked on inverse trigonometric identities, trigonometric identities, and summations. He initially had problems remembering the signs for the trig ratios. I explained some problems through each step. We will continue to work on this."
"The student needed to study and review for her final exam on Wednesday. Her exam will cover trigonometry, polar coordinates, vectors, conic sections, and limits. She and I spent the majority of the time reviewing trigonometry from a review guide provided by her teacher. The review guide had some problems that were significantly more challenging than what she had studied through the semester; she did her best to not only complete the problems but understand them. She always does really well in our review sessions, because it is clear that she understands the material, but benefits from the additional practice and discussion. I let her know that she can text me Tuesday night if she comes across any other questions while she continues to study for her final."
