Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"The student and I went over his geometry review in preparation for final which happens tomorrow. He understand most of the topics he's been prepped for and should do well."
"The student has bought herself an ACT review book, to supplement her other studies. I was thinking that we might go through that together, but, because the answers and explanations to the problems there are in the back of the book, I decided to bring some geometry review instead. This included formula sheets, targeted triangles and circles review, and a more generalized geometry test. We wound up working through the test for the entirety of the session. I think we made decent progress. She also reported that she'd taken a practice ACT test, on which her math score was 21, where previously she was getting a 16, on average, so evidently there is some benefit that she has taken from our sessions."
"We discussed parallel lines, perpendicular lines, finding the slope, finding the midpoint, and finding y-intercepts."
"We reviewed the student's geometry project and then started the biology review. I asked him several questions to make sure he understands everything, and I explained the parts that he did not know that well. Then, we went over one of his homework assignments, and he was able to do them by himself. He is doing well."
"We began the session by reviewing and completing chapter 4 class material. This included identifying the various types of triangle and their respective properties. We completed a proof which involved equiangular triangles traversing lines along a parallel. After having a difficult time on the radicals test, the student and I went over and corrected a majority of the problems that were giving her trouble. I believe our review of the test questions cleared up a lot of confusion about the given material. Even in my opinion, the problems were hard. But we collectively felt better working through the problems with the correct solutions."
"We covered material for the student's upcoming test that dealt with ratios, proportions, circle theorems, and right triangles. The student understood how to do the problems once she knew which theorem to utilize and felt that she would be more confident with more practice. I left her with more practice problems to do on her own from her study guide for the test and encouraged her to review the circle theorems study sheet that she had created."
