Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"Social Studies. We prepared for a quiz he is having on Tuesday. The student previewed Oliver Twist (an illustrated version). Presented parent with tasks for him to review for his test and read the chapters one and two of the book over the weekend."
"I worked with the student today. Since she had an Algebra II test tomorrow, we specifically concentrated on getting through her review packet. We practiced writing the equations of tangent lines to circles, writing and graphing the equations of circles, ellipses, and parabolas. We were unable to finish the entire packet, so hopefully she reviewed how to complete the square and determine what type of conic section is represented on her own!"
"The student and I brainstormed paper topics for a compare/contrast paper. We discussed themes, selected one, and built an outline of the paragraphs. We also discussed interpretations of a few scenes from Hamlet."
"The student and I met to discuss some of her past papers. We went through her writing, just tackling each sentence and figuring out ways to fix any minor errors. The student really understood what we were doing! I had her read every sentence aloud, and once she did that she would often recognize the slight errors immediately."
"It was our first meeting, so we spent some time understanding what the student is and is not familiar with. We covered simplification of algebraic expressions with whole number exponents, and then simplification when radicals or fraction exponents are used."
