Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"We discussed how her class is going so far and what her goals are. We went over the topics that she has learned so far, including PEMDAS, basic geometry, and working with fractions."
"Today, we covered solving algebraic expressions for a specific variable. That was the only section that the student covered in class since her test, so it was the only thing we did today."
"Covered parametrization. Rewriting explicit and implicit functions in terms of a parameter. Finding Cartesian forms of parameter curves. Performed calculus on parameter curves using the chain rule."
"We went over some more derivatives making sure the student doesn't get lost in his algebra. He still makes small mistakes but we're working on improving his problem solving skills."
"We were working with graphed of trigonometric function. Particularly, we determined an amplitude, period, phase shift, and horizontal shift for each given graph. After that we described the graph by its equation in term sines and cosines. Also we were checking the created equation using scientific calculator. We had to set up the window according the given graph and grid to make sure that equation we obtained algebraically is the correct equation."
"During our session, the student and I prepared for his final exam using many different review problems from a packet he provided. As the packet was a review of every concept that will be tested on the final, we covered many different topics, including the law of sines, the law of cosines, finding the nth root of a complex number, determining the equation of an ellipse in standard form, condensing logarithmic expressions, evaluating logarithms and logarithmic equations, calculating probability and the number of permutations or combinations for a certain scenario, the binomial theorem, and using the foci of an ellipse to determine the length of one of its axes. The student understands a great deal of the material that will be tested on his final very well, and after reinforcing certain concepts and learning how to do the few problems he didn't understand he seems very prepared for his upcoming exam."
