Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"Today we finished reviewing for the student's test tomorrow. I'm expecting an A. He is very well prepared, and knows the problems. Hope to hear good news next week!"
"We covered enthalpy word problems. The student has a test tomorrow which he wanted to practice for. I left him with extra practice in addition to practice problems he already had from class."
"We covered the first 17 problems from the student's practice midterm and we went over how to attack her equilibrium problems. Specifically we went over Redox reactions and ideal gas equations."
"Today we worked on trends in the periodic table, and started on the student's new section on bonding and Lewis structures. He has learned the basics of Lewis structures."
"We covered kinetics (reaction rates) and some more titration problems. The student knows this stuff pretty well. She just needed to increase her confidence, which we did today. We worked on a few problems in the online tutoring practice problem database."
"We did a review for the student's final exam. First, we went over types of reactions (synthesis, decomposition, etc.). In this section, we covered balancing equations and determining products. The student has no trouble balancing equations, but he does have a bit of difficulty figuring out the products. He can tell what type of reactions and what the products should be, but the subscripts are generally incorrect. It has gotten better with practice. We will continue to work on this. We then moved onto stoichiometry. His teacher preferred he do these problems a different way than we had been doing, so we went over how to do them that way together. He seems to understand this overall. We will continue this study session tomorrow."
