Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"For this session, we were reviewing for her partner test in class tomorrow. We went through how to graph exponential and logarithmic functions, how to linearize the function, how to write a regression line, how to change to exponential form, and the like."
"The student and I had our first session, which covered intro to trigonometry. Her class just started this week, so we reviewed what she learned so far covering unit circle, trig functions or triangle trig. Once she felt very comfortable with those concepts, we moved forward with the rest of the chapter (law of sines and law of cosines). She picked up on all the material very quickly and didn't seem to struggle once a sample problem was solved."
"For this lesson, the student and I reviewed trigonometry for his upcoming quiz. We worked on trigonometric identities, adding and subtracting angles, and double angles."
"We reviewed so the student could then verify several trigonometric identities via algebraic manipulation. She told me that my step-by-step guide of searching for Pythagorean identities, rewriting trig functions in terms of sin and cos, and factoring was helpful. We also reviewed angle addition and subtraction formulas for sin, cos, and tan. She is comfortable with the unit circle and all key angles."
"The student has the exam coming up in June, so I helped her study for it. We worked on a practice test, mostly reviewing concepts we had covered before. These included basic trigonometry equations, binomial expansion, etc. I gave the student some additional practice problems as well."
"We covered material that dealt with inverse trig functions (arcsin, arccos, arctan, etc.). This involved solving for the angle given the equation x=arcsin(-1/2) and sin5x+2=0. The student quickly grasped the concepts and could easily solve the problems, even without using a calculator when asked. He made a few simple algebra mistake, but quickly identified his mistake and correct it. The student informed me that he scored a 90% on his exam from the previous week. He continues to make great progress every week."
