"The student and I continued practicing reading comprehension. I repeated the instructions for approaching the section and went over a couple of examples with her. My priority is to make sure she can successfully draw the proper information from a passage to answer relevant questions. I assigned her a basic problem set based on an informative piece."
"Today the student and I started going over the practice test I had her do. She did very well on verbal and on reading. We went over the verbal section, and I gave her the definitions and ways of remembering the words she missed. Then we went over the quantitative math section. We focused on how to get the comparison problems right, specifically discussing using numbers instead of variables to get accurate results. We will continue going over the problems she missed next Tuesday. I had her write an essay for that day as well, so I can see where her writing is at."
"The student sat for a SSAT on Saturday. She said she thought it went well, and she thinks she did a little better than last time. We are going to shoot for the last test session on January 10 just in case, so we will meet this week and next week, then have a two week holiday break (due to her schedule) and then meet again for a session before the test in January. We worked math problems with a timer this session. She is showing improved skills in applying math strategies such as PITA and choose numbers, which I hope will have been reflected in her test scores from last Saturday's test session."
