Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"We covered regression and plots of points and their functions. We discussed the naming of functions and their appearance. We also covered graphs of inequalities and inequality function manipulations."
"More polar coordinate translation and graphing were on the menu for the student and I. The trickiest part of our work was reminding him of the techniques he had already learned and used a few days ago; fortunately, it began coming back to him."
"We went over the review that her teacher gave her since she was absent. We covered all of the subjects and concepts and made sure she could work all of the problems."
"The student and I reviewed simplifying and equivalent fractions as well as checked her fluency on her math facts of 2's and 3's. We began learning how to convert fractions to decimals. She caught on to that concept quickly. She is getting faster with finding both equivalent fractions and simplifying fractions since she is becoming more fluent on her math facts (2's & 3's). Additional practice was left for her to complete on her (3's and 4's) multiplication facts, converting fractions to decimals, and simplifying and equivalent fractions."
"The student and I had a good session. We primarily studied for his final that was the next day, so we ran through all of the subjects that are covered in that class. He had a pretty good feel for how to work through the problems. The biggest thing to worry about is to make sure to go back and double check his answers to catch any small errors."
"The student was pleased to tell me about her last two grades, which were 100%, for her Chapter 8 test and Quiz on Sections 9.1 and 9.2. During this session, she had a few questions from her homework on solving application problems. I reviewed the examples for calculating the distance traveled or initial velocity of a projectile using the distance model. She was then able to answer two questions that involved using the formula. We then reviewed another problem, which involved converting miles to feet for another application example. To practice the concepts covered in Sections 9.1 - 9.5, she completed review problems from her textbook. She did a great job on solving the problems on her own. With the time remaining, we reviewed the laws of cosine from Section 9.6, and she completed two example problems for practice. For our next session, she would like to review for her Chapter 9 test."
