Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"Today the student and I reviewed the biological pathways and other major concepts that will be tested on her exam this Thursday. She has come a long way since we started working together. Now, I feel that she has a good grasp on the necessary terminology for cell biology, and we have been focusing more on problem solving strategies."
"We covered meiosis and reviewed information on mitosis. She had a moderate grasp when we went over the information, but was fairly quick to grasp the concepts we covered. She was very open to learn the material and when I quizzed her on the subject matter she got all of the questions correct. I did not see any scores at this time, but our next meeting she will have gotten a quiz back."
"This was our first session. The student brought his book, his PowerPoints, and notes that he has taken thus far in the course. We started the session by discussing his strengths and weaknesses with regard to studying. We discussed specific testing tips (e.g., how to build key word charts in order to recall faster) and how to approach lectures (reading main bulletpoints prior to lecture and writing out a basic outline). We then reviewed specific material covered in Chapter 26 (Taxonomy), which included major topics and terms. The student was engaged throughout the session and demonstrated an increase in knowledge after our session, based on a chapter review quiz. We will continue our next session with reviewing an additional chapter, and we will begin building a study guide for his first test."
