Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"Today the student and I practiced using his vocabulary words in a complete sentence for understanding. Then we completed an online vocabulary quiz and spelling quiz which, he did well on. We concluded our session by practicing his math facts +/-10, doubles, and half."
"The students are now focusing on multiplication using greater numbers. Both of them asked great questions -- there was one pre-algebra questions that they both were unsure about -- and diligently completed the assignment. Next, we worked on finishing the landform charts that they began last week. This involved drawing and coloring in the different landforms. They shared colored pencils very nicely. Both students seem very prepared for their social studies test tomorrow!"
"Today we worked on words that use "gh." We also matched up words that rhymed and the student had to underline where the words were similar. Before we finished the session, we went over what we did during our last session (words ending with "er" and "est"). The student completed all the exercises very well. I didn't even have to help him. He's improving and today was one of his best days. I keep introducing bigger words, and he's improving every time he has a chance."
"We reviewed the student's math homework and made appropriate corrections. Many of the mistakes were simple correctable errors. She appears to have a grasp of the concepts."
"The student was introduced to strategies on how to write responses to comprehension questions. New vocabulary words were addressed by reviewing basic phonics and finding the meaning of the words in the context of the sentence and topic. She also worked on multiplication concepts. Her dad shared her progress report from school. I plan to use the school's syllabus and progress report to guide instruction."
"We are working to memorize the multiplication tables. In addition to the multiplication grid we built last week, the student's mother purchased a tool for her to practice. By Tuesday, she should know the 2s, 3s, and 4s. We reviewed her homework for both math and language arts at today's session."
