Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"Today the student and I made a promise to perform better and more efficiently during our tutoring sessions. She still feels uncomfortable with math, but for the first half of the session, she did very well! During the first half we discussed divisibility. We talked about the rules for dividing by 2, 5, 10, and 3. Then we did dividing with 2 numbers."
"The student has a math test tomorrow so we reviewed the chapter. I've been encouraging her to use her head instead of a calculator, because in terms of the multiplication tables, it's actually faster! She's doing very well in math and is making a lot of progress with time management."
"Worked on triangle based algebra problems for upcoming test. Student had questions concerning various geometry examples from review packet which were clarified. Discussed plan for chemistry midterm next week."
"We started with timed multiplication and division tests. We also then focused on real world mean, median, mode, and range problems. These problems were more difficult than those found in her math worksheets and she did very well!"
"When we checked, the student's second quarter grades were better than his first quarter grades. We were excited to see that. He had no homework, but knew of quizzes coming up in the future. We mainly studied for Math, but also looked ahead in Social Studies, and reviewed some Science they were doing in class."
"During part of this time, we reviewed the student's end of the year project, where we ran through the arithmetic of the chi squares test and she wrote up her conclusion. In the rest of the time, we did exam prep, reviewing problems from a handout her professor distributed."
