Newport Beach Tutoring FAQ

How much does Varsity Tutors cost for students in Newport Beach?

Pricing is, understandably, a great concern for many looking for tutoring for students in Newport Beach. To be fair, there are a number of factors that go into price determination.

How many sessions you need and the expertise required for your level of instruction, for example, can influence your cost per session. A parent whose student needs some extra help before taking the ACT will likely be quoted a price that varies from a college student who wants to dedicate a whole semester's worth of regularly-scheduled sessions to preparing for the LSAT. Signing up for more lessons may also result in a lower cost per lesson. Our Educational Directors can not only answer any questions you might have but present you with multiple options that range in price.

Which tutoring subjects does Varsity Tutors offer for students in Newport Beach?

You can find a tutor for students in Newport Beach for almost any topic you can think of. Whether you're having trouble with introductory science topics, seeking help writing your term paper, or would like to help your student sharpen their reading comprehension skills, there's a tutor who can meet your needs.

It doesn't matter the topic, age, or level of comprehension. Even professionals looking to earn credentials to advance their careers can benefit from a tutor with a CPA, CFA, or personal training certificate. And if you'd like to learn how to play the guitar or study Spanish before a trip to Madrid, we've got you covered.

Why choose Varsity Tutors for tutoring in Newport Beach?

Tutoring for students in Newport Beach can be advantageous in a few ways. They always take place on an individual basis, which means you not only have the undivided attention of an expert but lesson plans that are tailored to your distinct concerns, challenges, and pace of learning.

Your tutor can also work with you on assignments. If, for example, your French teacher didn't necessarily spend enough time on -ir verb conjugations in class, your tutor can go through worksheets and oral exam materials. This can help you correct errors in real-time, creating a possibly more efficient and effective study process by addressing errors before they have a chance to become bad habits.

We understand that finding a tutor in California can be a daunting task, but that doesn't mean it isn't beneficial. The knowledge and skills you gain can be matched by the confidence you can feel knowing that you've given your all.

It may seem that tutoring just isn't a good fit in your life, but we can help with those concerns, too. Our sessions all take place via a secure online platform. This means you can work from anywhere.

Our Educational Directors are ready to help. There's no reason to wait! Reach out to Varsity Tutors online to get the ball rolling with a tutor for students in Newport Beach today.

I met today with the student at the bookstore and spent most of the time going over analogies with him, using the test prep book as a practice tool.  We also did a few math problems, the more difficult ones.  He will be taking the assessment test tomorrow morning and he seems more confident and prepared than he was earlier in the week.  We also went over test-taking strategies, such as eliminating obviously wrong answers and guessing when the choices have been narrowed down to two possibilities, as well as omitting when the choices cannot be narrowed down to two.

Tutoring review by Meghan in Newport Beach, CA
Started with a brief review of consonant blends from the previous week. The student had clearly been practicing. He quickly recalled and read through words that had these consonant blends. We read two books together, and he made a better effort this week at sounding out and trying to decode words. We moved on to creating words featuring short and long "a"'s. I left some flash cards with his parents to practice with him throughout the week. Lastly, we read through a bit lengthier book together. Next week, we'll work on short and long "e"'s.

We reviewed transition words such as first, second, and last. The student was able to correctly insert transition words into a short story to make it flow better. She also wrote her own short story and instructions ("How to make a peanut butter sandwich") with transition words. We also went over some grammar (is/are and was/were).

Tutoring review by Christine in Newport Beach, CA
The student and I went over her math. She took a quiz in her math class and got 10/10. I hope that this is showing that she is gaining confidence in her mathematics skills. She seems to have a strong grasp and just needs a little bit of help every once in a while. We also went over writing but I hope to cover that more thoroughly on Sunday.
