Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"We completed several review verbal passages as well as passages and discrete questions in Physics (buoyancy) and Chemistry (enthalpy changes). She definitely has more confidence answering the verbal questions as compared to last week, and her accuracy has improved! In the chemistry section, she flew by the question and answered them all correctly. Continuing to work on her verbal ability will be a priority, and I am happy to note her positive progress."
"Reviewed physical sciences section of the Practice Test #9, made a new schedule for taking further practice exams, then covered the following topics in biology: enzymes, competitive and noncompetitive inhibition, glycolysis, fermentation (lactic acid and alcohol), the pyruvate dehydrogenate complex, and the Krebs Cycle."
"We reviewed Physics and introductory topics including projectile motion, schedule planning, time management, verbal strategies, centripetal/centrifugal motion, and inclined planes."
"We spent the first hour or so discussing what the student has done to date in preparing for her assessment. We also talked about how the test went the first time she took it. We will spend the next 3 and a half weeks reviewing material, with a focus on physics/general chemistry. We will constantly be applying the material, doing practice problems and also practicing verbal passages. With a schedule in mind, we starting reviewing material during our last hour together. We discussed atomic structure, and she recalled most of the details. I gave her homework for our next session."
"Today we went over dealing with advanced passages and quickly outlining each paragraph and gathering the tone of the passage. We also went over microbiology and other biology topics."
"Reviewed concepts in fluids, electrochemical cells, gas law, and missed questions from the practice test."
"Continued organic chemistry topic review. Planning to finish organic chemistry and review physics II concepts next week."
"We worked through some more verbal passages, as well as biological science passages. We talked through some new strategies for the student to use to improve his reading and understanding of answer choices."
"We reviewed a previous full length test and went over a verbal section. I answered questions regarding taking the MCAT."
"For our second meeting, we covered several chapters of Physics. We reviewed all of kinematics and most of mechanics. I also gave the student several practice problems to work on, which she completed."
"The student and I started going through the MCAT review book together, starting with general chemistry. It's been a few years since he's seen this material, so reviewing will be essential for him prior to testing."
"We reviewed MCAT physical and biological sciences section from a full length exam, which included the nervous system, genetics and optics."
