Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"We focused on several reading comprehension passages and then moved on the grammar section. We will continue to focus on reading comprehension and do additional math review in the next session."
"I met with the student for the first time and began by trying to get to know him and his familiarity with the SAT. He has virtually no experience with the SAT other than taking the PSAT, which he admits he did not try on. Thus, I explained the format of the exam and what he needs to study before we started. To help gauge where he is, I went through a math section with him question by question. He showed some aptitude in algebra, graphs, and number sequences. I advised that while he should study all the concepts, he should primarily concentrate on getting all the easy and medium questions correct. I told him that if he comes across a hard question which he does not know how to do and will take a bunch of a time, he should just skip it. We then went over a little bit of the reading section to see what level he is at there. He showed ability in reading comprehension. I told him to do a whole writing section before we meet again. I also stressed that he needs to do some independent study on his own if he really wants to be ready for the test."
"The student has done a math, critical reading, and grammar section for me to go over with her today. She got 15/20 correct on the math section, missing only 3 and leaving 2 blank; 20/24 correct on the critical reading section. However, on the grammar section, she missed a lot more questions than she normally does. The questions she missed in the grammar section were of easy to moderate difficulty, however, I know that she can do much better. We did the math section together. I told her to definitely go over that particular math section for extra practice in the near future. Overall, she is getting better at SAT questions in all 3 sections, and with continued practice, she has the potential to score 1950+ on the SAT!"
