Tutoring review by Anna in Newbury, OH
The student and I reconvened to work on her math. She is now working on area and circumference of circles. We went over her previous work and I also helped with tonight's work. The student needed very little re-direction and was able to do most of the work on her own. She really seems to have a handle on this material and I think she will do well on her upcoming test.

Tutoring review by Ryan in Newbury, OH
I feel like tonight we really were able to make some progress and not only get a big chunk of her missing work reviewed, but also help her grasp a new and somewhat difficult concept. She had recently missed several classes on Trig and using the law of sine so we went over it and I showed her multiple ways to solve it with her calculator and on her computer, in addition to drawing it out to help visualize what she is actually finding.

Session components included fluency, grade four standard concepts, and place value as a focus skill. Fluency practice consisted of multiplication facts 6, 7, and 8. Standard concepts previewed and practiced included addition of multi-digit numbers with regrouping, identifying shapes given a set of characteristics, specifically the pentagon, money, and rounding to ten thousand. Place value was practiced through illustrations using disc up to ten thousand. The concept of place value was also used in a homework task involving greater and less than. The student appeared to enjoy using manipulative material to practice place value concepts.

We covered sequences, and functions. The student was having a problem understanding the sequence equation due to the limited amount of information he was given, but he quickly caught on to how to do them after I explained the equation to him thoroughly. He has a great attitude toward learning his math.

Tutoring review by Devon in Newbury, OH
Today, we went over Mitosis and Meiosis, the cell cycle, and checkpoints within the cell that regulate cell growth and division. This process included the use of four concept maps that I generated using the class materials (Study questions and teacher PowerPoints), as well as a review of the study questions that appear on exams. This student is very bright and attentive and receptive to being taught and shared with, making her a delight to work with.
