Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"The student and I reviewed his book review project author, Pablo Neruda. We talked about how Neruda is a very famous poet, as well as important in Chilean history. He had a test to prepare for, so we reviewed his study guide. This was a mix of grammar review of irregular verbs, as well as the clothing and store vocabulary. I'm sure he did well because he has studied this material for a while."
"The client is continuing with studies for Spanish II. He had new homework today with vocabulary and verbs to conjugate. First he was very excited because we brainstormed over a new studying method for him and he was very excited to tell me that he thinks it's working and that he did much better (felt much more confident) on his last quiz. This was great news!! Next, he translated and conjugated his homework. I'm speaking to him in Spanish a lot now and asked him to make sentences. He was very excited to be making up his own full sentences in Spanish for the first time ever. We will continue with more tutoring later in the week."
"We went over the student's packet from school that had worksheets on preterite and imperfect, did an exercise by underlining the tenses in her English story, and then translated it to Spanish. We also worked on her big project coming up of performing her essay for the class by reading it aloud, and then trying to remember it with only a few prompts from me."
"The student did well in this session as we continued to work on his conjugation of verbs. He is improving, but there is much more work to be done. His vocabulary is gradually expanding by reviewing terms he has from class. He is also greatly benefiting from writing sentences and having sessions twice a week."
"We reviewed for the upcoming quiz the student has tomorrow. We made flashcards for her vocabulary. We also did drilling exercises. We went over the past, present, and imperfect tenses, as a review. Then, we reviewed a fill-in-the-blank homework assignment. I gave her help as to how to translate sentences using grammar and context clues. I think she will do well tomorrow, provided she continues to study."
"The student had an assignment that was quite challenging. Her teacher assigned them to write two paragraphs, each containing specific vocabulary. In addition, she had to use the present and preterite tenses. The challenging part for her was coming up with paragraphs and making it flow, and that is what I helped her with."
