Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"-We covered displacement, velocity, acceleration, and dimensional analysis. -This was the first tutoring session so this will be the basis for comparison."
"Today we went over displacement, velocity, acceleration, and vector vs scalar properties in preparation for an upcoming test."
"The student and I reviewed several basic physics concepts that he had questions about. In particular, we talked about torque and statics."
"The student and I worked through a physics problem set covering speed of sound waves (as a function of air temperature), intensity levels of sound waves at a distance, a review of logarithm rules as they help with intensity-scale calculations, period of a pendulum swinging under gravity, and a review of wave behavior (periodic motion) in general. We reviewed units, dimensional analysis, and some math skills that help with this class of problem solving. As always, he has a great attitude towards the material and the sessions, and it is a pleasure to work with him."
"The student and I discussed some more fundamentals of rotational motion. We talked about conservation of energy in this context as well as calculation of moment of inertia for rotation about different axes. He understands these concepts well; all he needs is practice to become an expert."
"The student is in the midst of a new section of physics study, with a test on light and color due on Friday. He asked questions on primary and secondary colors and the actions of light waves. Then, we tackled a new study guide on velocity, acceleration, and the use of trigonometric functions to solve height and distance problems. He does well with the concepts; I recommended drawing a picture of word problems to help with visualization. He needs practice with using his calculator to obtain answers to various functions. We will continue working in this section during next week's sessions."
