"The student and I spent the session going over circuits and circuit elements. We focused on some basics regarding current flow and resistance, tying them together with Ohm's law. We covered the major similarities and differences between series and parallel circuits. We then looked at some simple circuit diagrams. We reviewed the basic circuit element diagrams for voltage source, ground, resistors, and switches. We then worked on how to calculate effective resistance in both series and parallel circuits. We ended our session by going over some trig identity problems from his math course."

"These topics we covered - RL and RC circuits - are quite obscure concepts to grasp (I remember having a tough time understanding when I was first learning about them). The student and I covered basic analysis of these circuits and then worked our way through practice problems. He set up two (maybe more to come) sessions next week to go over all the material we've learned so far and to review for his final."
