Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"I worked with the student on properties of quadrilaterals including parallelograms, kites, squares, and rectangles. The student has the tougher concepts down and just needed to get the easier definitions memorized."
"We worked on current class assignments to ensure that she has a solid foundation for upcoming chapters. We discussed proofs involving perpendicular bisectors and circumcenters, and we started working ahead towards angle bisectors and incircles. She did well today; she is showing great strength in her knowledge base up to this point, but her class has not discussed properties of circles much, which is leaving her feeling overwhelmed at the new material (which involves using circles and their properties in proofs). I will continue to assist her by strengthening her familiarity of circles and how they relate to triangles, which will help her better understand the topics currently being taught in class. We are meeting a week from today for our next session."
"I assisted the student with a midterm project for her class. I guided her in completing a summary and creating five exam questions for one section of her textbook, then we discussed her plan for another assigned section."
"In the session, we reviewed the homework packets she had on genetics, and then moved on to some of the material about the structure of DNA. We also very touched on DNA replication. We worked mostly on DNA, and the structure of nucleic acids and so on. She had several other questions about replication and different organelles, so we talked some about how cells organized, and how DNA worked within the body."
"We continued reviewing rules and properties associated with circles. We learned about how to find arc measurements and lengths from inscribed angles, central angles, or external angles. We also learned how to find the angle made by intersecting chords. We finally went over circumference and area of the whole circle, as well as of sectors. We reviewed the nomenclature and rules from start to finish and I left a summary sheet with the student. We worked on many problems using what we have learned in the last two days for a future exam. She has done a great job!"
"I worked with the student on both geometry and chemistry today. In geometry, we made more probability area maps for word problems, and calculated values for double-spin problems. In preparation for her chemistry quiz tomorrow, we reviewed stoichiometric ratios pertaining to acid/base reactions."
