Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"The student and I discussed quadratic equations. We also discussed vertex form, standard form and factored form. We concluded with discussing how to find X intercepts, Y intercepts, axis of symmetry, vertex and graphing."
"Practiced multiplying 4-digit numbers with 3-digit numbers, expressing the products written and verbally with placeholders. Learned Roman numerals into the thousands place."
"Finished covering geometric series and sums of infinite series. Began discussion of Pascal's triangle."
"I thought it would be a good idea to cover multiplication and to go over what they began learning in class this week - fractions. The student has greatly improved with fractions. Her class covered very little about fractions. We went over concepts that have not been covered in her class, and then I had her answer questions about what fraction of the box was shaded, which included added fractions. I then did classic word problems with colored marbles asking what fraction of the marbles were each color, etc. She has these examples in her composition book to look over when needed. This session was great because we were able to work ahead so that she will understand what her teacher covers in class!"
"During this session, we reviewed the student's homework. He is studying for a test tomorrow covering decimal, percent, and fraction equivalents. He knows how to set up his problem to solve it; he just needs to work on showing his work on paper, no matter how tedious and mundane the process may be. He handles constructive correction well, and he works hard at correcting his mistakes when he is made aware of them. I want him to continue working on checking his work after completing a problem."
"Both students completed their homework on section three. Next, we completed the chapter review. I had them take down all their answers, so they might use it as a study guide. Finally, we went over section 2 in detail, to prepare for a quiz they have on Thursday."
