Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"The student had a packet to do involving regressions. It was mostly plugging data into the calculator and obtaining linear, quadratic, and exponential regressions. She initially struggled with defining the dependent and independent variables, but did better after I pointed it out a few times."
"We went over the new chapter on adding force vectors, conversion from metric units to US customary units, and introducing liters as a special unit. Then, we solved a good portion of two chapter's worth of questions, including simplifications of radical expressions, solving equations, special triangles (including 30 60 90 and 45 45 90), and percentage problems. The student is showing great improvement and is confident and on track with all topics."
"The student is doing well in the class - she had some questions about subjects covered during the year for which she just needed to clear up some points of confusion. Those areas included piecewise and step functions, quadratic inequalities, completing the square, and complex numbers."
"Today, the student and I went over how to complete the square and solving quadratic equations. We also discussed logarithm functions and some rules of logarithms. He grasped these concepts very well. We briefly discussed summations and series as well. It was a quick overview of what a summation and series is and how to write out the series in expanded form. He did well with these concepts as well and will continue to work through problems in his book."
"We covered most of the problems that the student had emailed to me. I told her that whenever she is doing any problems with equations to automatically plug the equations into her calculator. She will do more practice story problems and contact me if she needs help. Our next session will be two weeks from today."
"We started with some integral problems the student had questions on from his last test. We then covered series, sequences, convergence, divergence and their limits. He is very strong conceptually, and just needs to visualize concepts first. He had a great attitude. We agreed that he would email me the new topics his class is starting on Friday so I can prepare some problems or suggestions."
