Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"Today, the student and I covered the steps of transcription and translation. Specifically, we reviewed the role of the enzymes in each of these processes and how these enzymes work. Additionally, we reviewed biomes and niches according to the worksheets provided by his teacher."
"I worked with the student on acid and base concepts. We worked on predicting products of acid base reactions and also balancing reactions. He has a much easier time with math based work in chemistry, and we need to work on conceptual topics in more depth."
"We reviewed chemistry using the student's extensive review packet. We went over various concepts to ensure comprehension. We also did a few problems that I thought would be helpful to get some practice on. We then quickly covered a few geometry concepts at the end to make sure that he was prepared for that as well. He did great!"
"During this session, the student worked on his online homework and review worksheet. The online homework consisted of balancing chemical equations and relating that to lab work by calculating the percent yield. I sent her an email that consists of a worksheet and extra practice. The review worksheet was based on homework from last week and was in preparation for the upcoming test. We worked through it and discussed topics she was not understanding completely."
"As this was my last scheduled session with the student, we spent the time doing general chemistry review, briefly going over all the material we've covered in the past, including gas chemistry, solutions, stoichiometry and acid base chemistry. We also talked about a variety of topics we've touched upon but not covered in detail; specifically, we discussed the principles of non-Newtonian ferrofluids, as well as the chemical properties of a variety of heavy metals (especially mercury). Working with the student has been a real pleasure, and I wish him the best of luck, both on his final exams and in all future ventures."
"Organic Chemistry. Today, we went over the majority of Sn1 and Sn2 reactions. We worked on the examples that were provided for him in class and focused on the different concepts in each one."
