Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"The student and I covered the beginning of a chapter on derivatives and limits. This is really getting into the core of calculus. In particular we discussed the importance of slope in position time plots, as well as average slope over an interval. I am looking forward to covering more material with the student throughout his semester."
"The student and I covered integrals. We specifically went over the substitution method since he had some problems while solving the exercises given in his homework. He and I practiced all the exercises form the homework I had given him last tutoring session. I did leave him with some homework so that he can practice what we learned and review today."
"The student did well on her homework over motion applications of derivatives, although she wanted more help understanding the directions on a few problems. We practiced motion modeling further today and wrapped up with a review of all of our past differentiation rules."
"The student and I went over integration (indefinite and finite) with substitutions. We also used integration to calculate the area between curves. He did well with it, yet sometimes skipped steps, which leads to incorrect answers. I asked him to practice more area and integration problems so that he can see what steps he is missing."
"We went through her homework about partial derivatives with a focus on looking at which variables stayed constant while taking the partial derivative. We also used contour maps of two variable equations to determine whether the partial derivatives were positive or negative at certain points. We ended with finding the equation of tangent planes."
"We did many homework problems involving cost, revenue, price-demand, and profit functions. He followed the work without any problem."
