Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"During today's session we started off by reviewing content covered in the previous session regarding the cytoskeleton. I quizzed the student on the content and she was able to answer all of my questions correctly. We then covered the new concepts that were recently covered in her class and reviewed it afterwards to make sure it was well understood. At the end of the session I discussed some test taking tips to the student since she has an exam tomorrow. The student seemed comfortable with the material and didn't have any questions towards the end. We will continue meeting next week to review the content and keep up with her work and help her prepare ahead of time for the cumulative final exam."
"The student and I had a great session. We continued working on the material that is on the calculus test on Friday. We worked through a class given worksheet detailing optimization problems. Overall he did very well with that material; he just needed to build confidence in his ability to set up the problem. We also did a couple more problems dealing with related rates. Our next session is scheduled for Thursday."
"The student and I went over what she's starting reviewing in her lectures on Friday nights in AP Biology. We discussed some genetics concepts, and I've assigned for her to take a practice exam over the next couple of days from her practice book."
"We covered some multiple choice and free response questions on allosteric regulators, hemoglobin, myoglobin, and amino acid substitutions from mutations. He was appreciative of the material covered and feels he understands the regulation of hemoglobin and oxygen binding a lot more now. He has an exam next week, so we will be meeting a few more times to prepare him."
"I covered rotational inertia, angular velocity, angular momentum, and angular acceleration. Her attitude was fine. I showed her different ways of thinking about the problems and the relationship to the linear equations she has already learned. The win is she was getting the hang of it as the session continued."
"We went over finding the slope of lines connecting two points. The student was very quick to find these and knew the equation, so we finished early. I also went through some review on finding intercepts with him."
