How can a Nashua tutor near me help me work to improve my grades?

Private Nashua tutoring allows students to receive individualized attention within a private learning environment. Any questions you ask can be answered quickly, as you are your Nashua tutor's only student during your study sessions. Likewise, your instructor does not need to grade a bunch of papers before returning yours, allowing you to make any corrections while the material is still on your mind.

Similarly, Nashua tutoring can be tailored to your specific learning style. If you're a visual learner, your Nashua tutor can use scale models, infographics, and other tools to make it easier for you to picture abstract concepts. If you are more auditory by nature, your instructor can utilize music to boost your rote memorization skills. It might even be possible for your instructor to customize your educational experience by bringing your outside interests into your study sessions. For example, there are many dice games that can be used to illustrate how probability works.

Working with a Nashua tutor also allows you to learn at your own pace. If something just isn't clicking for whatever reason, your instructor can go over it again and again no matter how long it might take for you to be comfortable with it. When if finally clicks, your personal instructor can move right to something else. Most classrooms have too many students to provide a comparable level of personalized attention to each one, making for an overall study experience that isn't quite as efficient as Nashua tutoring.

What academic subjects can I go over with Nashua tutors near me?

We can help you connect with Nashua tutors for nearly any academic subject. If your child attends Main Dunstable Elementary School, their instructor can encourage them to ask questions about the world in order to foster a taste for scientific inquiry. If your student attends the Academy for Science & Design Middle School, their instructor can concentrate on artistic subjects such as English Language Arts to better compliment the STEM-focused education they get at school. If you or your student go to the Academy for Science & Design High School, you can spend your study time preparing your college applications.

We can also help students at the post-secondary level and beyond find Nashua tutoring services. If you attend Rivier College, your instructor might review active reading techniques with you to help you get more out of your textbooks and any scholarly articles your professor assigns. If you go to the University of Massachusetts Lowell, your instructor might make you flashcards too keep track of all of the proper nouns in your Indian History course.

Is Nashua tutoring near me a good way to prepare for high-stakes tests?

Yes! In fact, many students come to us for help with standardized testing. New Hampshire has a Statewide Assessment System (NH SAS) that begins standardized testing in third grade with exams in Mathematics and English. Juniors in high school also take a Science NH SAS, plus an "SAT School Day" where they take the famous college admissions exam in a familiar environment. Your Verbal score counts as your NH SAS in English, and your Math score is your NH SAS in math. If you were thinking that the SAT wasn't scary enough, your prayers have been answered!

Thankfully, Nashua tutoring can help guide your test prep. For example, you are allowed to use a calculator on one half of the SAT Math section, but double-checking every answer requires more time than you actually have. Your instructor can show you when and how to use the resources available to you so that you make the most of the time allotted. Similarly, there is no penalty for guessing on the SAT. If you're ever unsure on a question, you should take a guess and move on instead of trying to puzzle it out.

Recent Nashua Tutoring Session Notes

Tutoring review by Patricia in Nashua, NH
We worked in question sentence structure. We practiced reading texts, and asking questions about the text. We went over the use of "do" "does", and main verb structure. The student got better as the session progressed, but still needs more practice. I left a text for her to read, and come up with 10 questions to go over them in the next session. We are still working in the use of "the" "a", and "an" as well. The student is enjoying the lessons, and feels she has gotten much better, and her friends can understand her better when she speaks.

Tutoring review by Melissa in Nashua, NH
I gave the student a pre-test to see what the problem areas are. Then, we proceeded to go over his homework, and I observed that the student didn't understand the reading material, so we read it aloud and annotated the articles. This seemed to work for comprehension, and he was able to answer the multiple choice and short answer questions better. I told him that when he reads a piece he should ask questions.

Tutoring review by Joe in Nashua, NH
We covered addition and subtraction of fractions as well as converting from improper fractions to mixed numbers. He was eager to learn as usual and quickly applied the math ideas we discussed. Once he understands the concept, he is skilled at solving similar problems. His times tables are still not entirely memorized, but he has improved from previous sessions.

We concentrated on practicing math for the ACT. We went through an entire Math practice test problem by problem. The student did a good job with problems at the beginning of the test, and even as we continued to the harder problems he was doing well. We took some more time to cover some of the complicated algebra problems on the test which led to some good practice/lessons for Algebra II.

Tutoring review by Benjamin in Nashua, NH
Today we worked through a few problems involving the transformation mapping of one vector to another using the transformation matrix A. We went over the new terminology and compared it to the function notation with which he is already familiar. We also reviewed some properties of diagonal matrices and the identity matrix, especially as we used its columns in the transformation linear equations.

Tutoring review by Rob in Nashua, NH
During this session, we focused on completing math activities from the student's SAT prep book. I did not see any scores this time with the student. The student struggled mainly with word problems. She got a few questions wrong because she did not read the question closely enough. She also struggles with her mental math facts. We will continue to work on mental math fluency as our lessons progress. In our next session, we are going to focus mainly on word problems from her SAT prep book and problems that I prepare for her in advance of the lesson.
