Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"Reviewed homework from last session. Started working on greatest common factors of numbers and incorporating them into dividing and multiplying fractions."
"We reviewed for the final, discussed a homework assignment together. We reviewed graphing functions of polynomials, and identifying the polynomial based on a graph. As of today, the student's grade has gone from a 65 to a 74%. He still has some homework and the final to complete."
"We worked more on y=mx+b form for lines. The student practiced finding the y-intercept and slope from the equation, and then using that to graph the line. She also practiced going the other direction (from graph to equation), and finding a graph or equation from pairs of points."
"We covered continuity using the limit definition. She seemed to understand the problems once graphs had been drawn, but getting to that point seemed to be a struggle. I am going got be sending her some review material for trigonometric functions and the unit circle."
"Today, we covered the limit definition of a derivative, the power rule of differentiation, and derivatives as functions. The student understood the calculus content well, but still seems to be struggling with algebra concepts. Overall, the student seemed confident. I included some tips about what to look for on certain questions and how to use process of elimination and pattern recognition to complete problems in a more efficient manner. Her homework scores have continued to be excellent. A major win from this session was her attitude toward many of the questions. Her first instinct was to attack the question head on instead of asking for help."
"The student and I reviewed calc for his exam. We looked at word problems, limits, and fxn behavior. We tackled several difficult problems and troubleshot our answers."
