"The student and I studied for his civics key terms quiz tomorrow and worked on reviewing his reading questions for Friday. The student did better in reading. I read off the key terms from his quiz and had him provide either the definition or the term. We went over this at least three times. After making sure he felt comfortable with the material, we did a brief review for his science quiz on density this Friday. The student also picked a book he will read for English, and he hopes to finish half of the book by the end of the month."
"Tonight the student and I discussed the workload she's had since we last met, and continued to discuss tentative scheduling for her upcoming work. She has reduced the amount of time she spends of her homework considerably, all while maintaining or improving her grades. We then began discussing her upcoming Research Essay for her English class, and laid out a tentative schedule for completing this assignment. We plan to meet again briefly on Sunday to discuss her initial research."
"He was open to my suggestions and eager to clear out his binders - we spent the majority of our time clearing out those front binder pockets and dedicating dividers to specific uses. The front pocket is now for assignments that he is actively working on or that are finished and need to be handed in the next day. The first paper in the binder rings should be a syllabus, where available, and then the tabbed dividers. He needs to hole-punch some handouts for his binders and file another stack in an "archive" binder, for notes and tests from last semester that may be helpful for finals. He said he thought he had a binder upstairs that could be used for this purpose. I briefly introduced outline-style note taking, which I would like him to try over the next week. We also discussed planners. Next week, we are going to work on his French binder, start our planner strategy, and review homework and study habits."
