Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"We reviewed the results of the student's Reading diagnostic and discussed the correct answers for the questions that he missed. We also reviewed additional questions like the ones he missed. He is very good at identifying what is meant by words or phrases within the context of the readings. I worked with him on identifying main ideas. He is going to retake the test between now and Sunday. He is also going to take the Verbal diagnostic."
"The first student made great strides today with word problems involving ratios and algebra, and the second student is also making some headway. The second student and I reviewed a number of flashcards that required him to translate between fractions, percents and decimals. He needed assistance to answer most questions, but is learning many skills like long division that are helping immensely. The first student and I encountered many more difficult questions than the line segment problem we got stuck on last time, but has grown in confidence and needed less of my explanation to arrive at a correct answer. He is learning to transcribe word problems into algebraic formulas, which has perhaps provided the biggest boost in his math self-esteem."
"Today's session was pretty straightforward. I had the student finish off both the Quantitative Reasoning and Mathematics Achievement sections (she had relatively few remaining in each). We are working on getting the student to start consistently documenting her work (e.g., equations, visuals, etc.)."
